Droptext Update

Posted: July 10th, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | 7 Comments »

We have gotten a lot of feedback on Droptext. Most very good, but there are a few improvements needed. First the crashing has been fixed. Without getting to technical the UI was moving faster than the app could talk to Dropbox. In most cases this is fine but there was one that didn’t handle it correctly and caused the app to crash. The good news is that the fix is finished and version 1.1 will be submitted to Apple very soon.

Based on users comments and suggestions we are making a change to the way Droptext decides what files can be edited. Right now Droptext is looking at the mime type of the file. This works in most cases but is defined by Dropbox not the user. There are a few file types that are not being identified as text file and most custom extensions fall into this category as well. To fix this I am working on a way for the user to define what fileĀ  extensions should be editable. The app will come with a preloaded list of most common extensions and the user will be able to modify that list. Obviously the file must still be a text file for it to work.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions.

THis almost make me want to switch fom Android to the iPhone :) . it looks pretty convenient to be able to edit your fils on the go and sync them back .
BTW may I paste my DB referral link ? it enables new user to get 2.25GB of storage in stead of 2GB.

I would be happy if I could load this app with OS 3.1.3 – I’m just happily back to 3.1.3 after OS 4 turned out to be a crap.

AppStore said it requires a OS 3.2(!) update – what the heck ..???

I will take a look at adding 3.1.3 support. I don’t think I am using anything that wont work in 3.1.3.

3.2 is the current iPad version and was never released for iPhone.

Droptext sounds like a great app. Too bad I can’t buy it. I’ve got an original iPhone Mk.I, which doesn’t support IOS 4, and thus I’m SOL.

I would seriously appreciate a version for 3.1. Heck, I’d even pay twice the current price! ;-)

3.1.3 support is coming soon. I just haven’t had a chance to pull out my old iPhone to test it.
